TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NOISE
Niche marketing refers to targeting goods and services to a segmented part of a broader market. Understanding the niche and its audience is the best way to gain a competitive advantage. It involves catering to unique demands that mainstream providers need to cater or address to an overlooked audience. Even so, some niche markets may not be worth exploring. Hence, thorough research is paramount in addressing a niche market.
If there is no competition, it could mean that the market is not beneficial, but if there are a few products or services, it could mean that the market could be worth exploring. Profitability must be explored after prospective niche markets have been established or confirmed. Note the customers, produce a unique and compelling product or service and narrow the competition down.

Attracting the right audience starts with the product (music); the characteristics of the product (music) are typically similar to that of its audience and vice versa. Genres are more blended and fused than ever, so it can be confusing to identify which is which. Nevertheless, the more specific a niche is compared to a genre, sub-genre, fusions, and other elements, the more authentic and genuine the niche. In the end, music is simply music.
Focusing on the target audience of the niche is essential alongside catering to the audience open to appreciating and being influenced by what gets their attention. The niche is based on the artist’s natural skills and expertise and needs to be channeled to the palette of its audience. Niche, in this case, refers to a style outside the umbrella of specialised genres, sub-genres, and in some cases, micro-genres.
CORE GENRES VERSUS NICHES
Categorising music by genre can be beneficial, but there is a tendency for niche music to get lost in the pool; at the same time, it could be favourable in gaining attention. Personalising the music through genres to sub-genres, fusions to feeling helps niche-based music.
Understanding one’s expertise, honing one’s skills, and staying true to the niche are paramount. Doing so makes breaking down the music to fit categories and playlists better.
Genre and sub-genres are a starting point, and the music can be narrowed down using elements like; instrumentation, emotion and or mood, geography, and style to tailor in search engines the niche directly to the characteristics and needs of the audience. The more descriptive gives the niche tunnel vision to its audience.
CONCLUSION
Good music deserves an audience. It can be difficult with the flood of music out here, but staying true and cognisance of the facts, structures, and goals help focus on finding the right audience. It could involve ample research, creative thinking, and strategic executions to find, build and foster a great relationship with an audience.
There is an audience for all music.
